Love Love Love
Jason cooked all the dinners the week leading up to Valentine's Day. He spoiled me with some pretty fantastic dishes- both delicious as well as visually stimulating! He is becoming an incredible chef! Thank you Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsey! (the chefs whose cookbooks inspire J) :)
I did make the dessert for valentine's day - the red velvet cupcakes by Sprinkles. :)

So Cute!
I don't usually post wedding stuff on this blog, but my cousins sent me a couple of photos of the flower girls in their dress and they are just so adorable... I had to share! Since I love dancing, I originally wanted them to wear tutus. But, then I found these perfect little pink tulle flower girl dresses! :) I love them and it looks like the girls do too!

There is one more flowergirl, Nina - but I don't have a photo. :(

Alforno's Baked Pasta Recipe!!!!
Last weekend, a bunch of us from UMass hit the ski slopes at Loon Mountain. It was a great time - 7 friends, a cozy condo, and fabulous food.
Me and Monica showing off our ski style.
Team Woo.
Monica made the famous Al Forno's baked pasta and it was OMGood. This is probably one of my favorite things on Al Forno's menu - for those of you who are not familiar- Al Forno's is one of the best restaurants in Providence and has to die for baked pastas and grilled pizza. I will share this recipe with you because this pasta makes for the best winter comfort food (though Jason did do a fabulous mac & cheese for me on Valentine's Day <3) I found the recipe on Martha's Stewart though the recipe in "On top of Spaghetti" by the AlForno's owner may be slightly different...here you go! Click here for the link: Baked Pasta with Tomato, Cream and Five Cheeses!
Red Velvet update!
Last week, I finally decided to make the Sprinkles Bakery Red Velvet cupcake mix from William Sonoma. OMG. My quest is over- I have found the PERFECT red velvet cake! The mix is a bit tricky to make since it calls for butter and gradual mixing, but it is so worth it. SO WORTH IT. 5 Stars and a Hooray!

Brrrrrr!
Today I got an email from a friend that summarizes the bitter new england winter we've been getting.
"Ugh. Its so cold outside I can barely handle it. I'm so over this glacial, freeze your a** off, mind erasing, March of the penguin-loving bullsh*t weather. Hahah. It's making me grouchy. Hahaha. Someone give me a heat lamp before I go postal and start brandishing an icicle whilst making death threats on my co-workers. Haaa, I'm exaggerating a bit. I just like to complain."
but seriously, when will the snow and freeze go away!!!

Fiance of the Year Award
"I think he deserves the Oscars of Boyfriend Awards for that one!" - Jess S.
Jason is a wonderful fiance. He is also a wonderful cook. Now, we can add wonderful surprise planner to that list! For some time now, Jason has been working on a "surprise weekend" for me. I had been thinking that it would be a weekend in Boston or Providence, imagine my surprise when we boarded the plane for a weekend in Washington DC! He brought me to eat crabcakes at the Eastern Market, the we window shopped around Georgetown before eating a delicious dinner at Palena. Afterwards, he brought me to a Lykke Li (my favorite artist of the last year!) concert.
Sunday Brunch at the Tabard Inn.... perhaps the best brunch I have ever eaten!
Dinner at Palena
Party dresses at Betsy Johnson - totally impractical but fun to try on!
Go Obama!
Collard Greens, Hand cut fries and mmmm...crab cakes at Eastern Standard.
Everything we ate was fantastic and fabulous! DC is an awesome city!
