Fun Short Wedding Dress Photo Shoot

On April 15 th, I did something totally unusual for a Wednesday weekday - I volunteered to model for a short wedding dress photo shoot with a local photographer that I admire - Rachel from www.mergeweddings.com.  I have been a big fan of her stuff for months and have been following her blog, so when she had a casting call for this shoot AND i had the perfect dress from www.etsy.com*, I couldn't resist!

my fabulous hair stylist, Jennifer! If you look closely you can see Rachel with the camera shooting another model in the background!
super talented makeup artist Jennie-Kay!
Beautiful florals by Erica J (boston area) used in the shoot! Rachel was so generous and let me take one of the bouquets home!

I don't usually plug vendors, or talk much about wedding stuff on my blog... but today, I met such fabulous and talented women in hair, makeup, florals, and photography that I had to give them all props! If you are interested in their contact info, please let me know and I'd be happy to pass it on!

Feathers are so FAB!

This fall, I've been really into feathers and fur. It all started with Galvan-ized Headwear at the boston Ahts fest (not only did I get a feather headband, but I convinced Sarah to get one too!)...then while in Miami, at Urban outfitters, I spotted this fabulously awesome feather "fascinator". Feathers are popping up everywhere.  You can find them at arts festivals, but the best prices and variety of styles are on www.etsy.com and www.urbanoutfitters.com.
Wear one to your next holiday party!

Chictopia

I love fashion. I find it fascinating and fabulous! One of the most striking parts of the 6 or so hours I spent (11pm-5am) in Tokyo city was the incredible fashion. The women and men were totally decked out. I saw combinations of trends that were fearless and whimsical. For example, the above outfit witnessed in the subway station was "average" for a Saturday night in Tokyo. I've never seen so many false eyelashes, designer handbags, funky vests and hats, and over the knee socks in such high concentration before. It was awesome. Sometimes I wish I lived in Tokyo I could play dress-up everyday.

The other day, my friend Jess shared the following website with me. http://www.chictopia.com/ There you can check out some more interesting looks to inspire your next trip to the mall. :)

Happy Labor Day!

"Traditionally, Labor Day is celebrated by most Americans as the symbolic end of the summer." -wikipedia

End of the summer!? I sure hope not. I still have to a) eat my lobster rolls, b) lay out by the beach and drink pina coladas, and c) make smores by a campfire. I need at least 3 more weeks of summer to do all of these things! Fortunately, I have gotten my summer share of ice cream consumption in and gotten a tan so dark that my mother claims she can "no longer see me" (to which I reply and remind her, "turn on the light, mom"). My favorite ice cream flavor of the summer of 2008 is: Mint Oreo. What is yours?

No one has asked, but I'm going to offer my thoughts on the "No whites after labor day" rule. It's stupid. If you look good in white, wear it whenever you want. Fashion rules are silly. The only rule, in my opinion, that you should stick to is "wear what makes you happy". Every now and then you may be wrong, but isn't your happiness worth that risk? Also, brown looks good with black.

Happy Grilling, since today is also an official BBQ day. I hope I get to turn mine on today but everyone I know is working or away today. Does anyone want to invite me to a BBQ? I will bring the ice cream....  (above is the burger, so full of goodness that the top bun won't fit)
